Sherman Clifford Overton

Mr. Sherman Clifford Overton, 90 of Stigler passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospital. He was born on November 27, 1925 in Paden, Oklahoma to Earl Overton and Rose (Denman) Overton. He grew up in Wynona where he received his education. He married Mary Moreland and together they raised four children. His working career consisted of becoming a landscaper for Lawn Service Landscaping, a caddy at a golf course, molder for Bethlehem Steel for thirteen years, molder/painter for Rogers Galvanized, a custodian for Frougs Department Store, a custodian for Kirkland Hills Church, a custodian for Hale-Halsell Company, worked maintenance for Anderson Rooney Company/Cities Service for more than twenty-five years, and retired as a custodian for Tulsa Public Schools. He moved to Brooken Mountain in 1998. He will always be remembered as loving gardening, dancing, wrestling, singing, animals, and water skiing at the lake. He is survived by Cheryl Horst of the home; two daughters, Mary Fitzer and husband Bill of Brooken; Kathy Goodman and husband Rick of Brooken; two sons, Clifford Overton of Tulsa, John Overton and wife Sarah of Weleetka; thirteen grandchildren, Shana Grubis and husband Joe, Aaron Goodman and wife Brandie, Chad Goodman and wife LaTonya, Amy Eakle and husband Andy, Kenny Overton and wife Amy, Leawna Bruton and husband JJ, Kevin Moreland, Christy Overton and husband James, Mindy Overton, Marcia Russell and husband Farron, Teri Hudson and husband Matt, Cassie Fowler and husband Blake, Cindy Ramirez and husband Frank; thirty two great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rose Overton; two brothers, Leroy Overton, Clarence Sisco; one sister, Frances Pasley; three grandsons, John Wayne Overton, Clifford Overton II, Brian Fitzer. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Faith Community Church with Reverends Bill and Mary Fitzer, Reverends Rick and Kathy Goodman, and Reverends John and Sarah Overton officiating with Reverend Andy Eakle delivering the Eulogy. Pallbearers include Aaron Goodman, Chad Goodman, Andy Eakle, Joe Grubis, Terry Fisher, Nathan Wingo, Nick Fitzer, Isaac Goodman, Caleb Eakle, and Brandon Overton. Burial will immediately follow at Brooken Cemetery under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
