Mildred Kindrick

Mildred Kindrick, 99, lifelong Porum resident died Friday, June 23, 2023 at her home. She was born January 7, 1924 to John and Belle (Long) Lawson at Briartown. Never straying very far from this area she met and married Claude Kindrick on April 9, 1941. They had three children, Claudie, Clark, and Susie. In the 1950's they traveled to California for a short while before returning to Porum for the rest of their lives. Mildred had many jobs in her lifetime, she was a grocery clerk, meat wrapper ,and home health aid to name a few. She often told the story about keeping her finger in her mouth until she was 17 because she was so bashful, but once she got it out she never stopped talking and those who knew her can vouch for that. She sewed her entire life for friends, family and herself. She crocheted and made quilts for her family and friends. She completed her last quilt 3 weeks before her death, a cathedral window quilt that is very tedious and complex. She loved her family and everyone loved her, she was Grannie to so many people. She was the best cook, she loved cooking big dinners. She also loved Yahtzee, she played it endlessly, along with going to the casino. She is survived by her son, Clark Kindrick and wife Denise of Porum; her daughter, Susan Waters and husband Roney of Porum; daughter in law, Ruby Kindrick of Porum; 3 grandchildren, Russell Kindrick and wife Chrissy of Keefeton, Kim Weeks and husband Randy of Muskogee, Charissa Kindrick of Fort Gibson; her great grandchildren, Kinsey, Leandra, Jerrett, Kylar, Gabe, and Emmy; her great great grandchildren, Aarie, Riggin, Ryder, Bowden, and Blaine: her special friend, Teri Garner; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude Kindrick; one son, Claudie Kindrick; her siblings, Edith, Lloyd, Ruby, Kitty, Ted, Howard, an infant brother and an infant sister. Graveside services will 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 26, 2023 at Coleman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stan Spradlin, Luke Spradlin, Rocky Oldham, Mark Breedlove, Julana Shrum, Steve Alvarez. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Kindrick, Jerrett Kindrick, Kylar Ross, Gabe Kindrick, Darrell Lawson, Loren Brasher Burial will follow under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
