Leola (Seabolt) Mills

Leola (Seabolt) Mills, 99 years young of West Liberty Community left this world surrounded by her family March 9, 2017. She was born December 28, 1917 to S.S. and Doshia (Green) Seabolt at West Liberty where she grew up and attended school to the 11th grade. On August 17, 1934 she married John Sailor Mills Jr and they made their home in West Liberty Community where they raised their children. Leola was known for her commitment to living a Christian life and taught her family about her Savior. She was a life-long member of West Liberty Baptist Church. She loved to play the piano and sing with her girls. They traveled and sang as The Mills Family. Later in life she would sing with her grandchildren as The Gospel Cousins until her voice just could not hold up to sing anymore. Leola was a hard worker at everything she did. She worked in Quinton at Brazil’s Grocery, Howard’s Supermarket, Ballard’s, and John’s as a cashier. She also spent several years working at the Haskell County Barn in Kinta then Whitefield. She loved to grow her garden and work in her flower beds and she loved to sew quilts for her family. But more than that she loved her family and her church family. Leola is survived by her 3 daughters, Kay McKee, Phyllis Eakle and husband Jim, Judy Strain and husband Stanford all of West Liberty; a son-in-law, Coy Few; a sister-in-law, Irene Seabolt; 9 grandchildren, Connie Thompson and husband Jerry, Therisa Gist and husband Bill, Sandra Few and husband Donnie, Coy Mike Few, Vickey Mills and husband Robert, Vonda Roberts and husband Mickey, Stan Strain and wife Lizzie, Brad Strain and wife Shelly, Julie Pryor and husband Dewayne; a granddaughter-in-law, Melanie Eakle; a grandson-in-law, Stacey Rue; 26 great grandchildren; 33 great-great grandchildren and three more great-greats on the way; many nieces and nephews. Leola was preceded in death by her parents, S.S. and Doshia Seabolt; her husband, John Sailor Mills Jr; 2 daughters, Glenda Few, Johnia Wren; 2 sons-in-law, Bud Wren and Billy Gene McKee; 3 grandchildren, Roger Wren, Jimmy Dion Eakle, Andrea Rue; a great-great granddaughter, Daisey Monk; 9 siblings, Lawrence Seabolt, Kenneth Seabolt, Check Seabolt, Cliff Seabolt, Raymond Seabolt, Vain Seabolt, Anzie Eakle, Nona Hamlin, Euna Mae Dunavant. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at West Liberty Southern Baptist Church with Reverend Thomas Chappelle officiating. Pallbearers include grandsons and great grandsons. Burial will follow immediately to West Liberty Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral home of Stigler.
