Kenneth Wayne Reading

Kenneth Wayne Reading passed away peacefully in his home on August 23, 2022. He was born on January 26, 1947 to Melvin W. & Alta M. (Holt) Reading at their home in Rose Hill Community where he grew up. After high school, he began his long career with OG&E where he worked for over 30 years. Ken married the love of his life, Pamala Preskitt, on August 18, 1972. They made their home in the Rose Hill Community and raised three children. Ken was a long time member and deacon of the Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church until it closed its door in 2015. Ken will be remembered as a devoted Christian, a loving husband, father and grandfather who could have the longest conversations about any topic. He had a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to share with anyone who would listen. He also was the biggest jokester and cut up especially with the grandkids. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pam Reading of Rose Hill Community, Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Ginger & husband Chad Brixey of Greenwood, Arkansas, Vanessa Boyles of Stigler; a son, Anthony Reading of Rose Hill; 10 grandchildren, Ashley & Christian Patton, Kiera & Kendall Waggoner, Jaron & Cacey Minor, Gavin Minor & Madison Edwards, Mason Boyles & Cambry Boyles, Julia, Carly, Paul & William Brixey; 6 great grandchildren with one on the way, Bentlee Patton, Griffyn Patton, Tucker Patton, Sawyer & Fisher Waggoner, & Kimber Minor; one sister, Shirley Roye; nieces & nephews, Sheila & Steve Dunham & family, Jimmy & Sandy Wade & family, Teresa & Lenard Rowe & family; sisters & brothers-in-law, Jim & Lavata Trickett & family, Sparl & Kylene Hendrix & family; numerous other aunts, uncles, & cousins. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin & Alta Reading; one brother, Larry Reading; one granddaughter, Kelsey Minor; one great grandson, Dylan Patton; one niece, Lisa Wade. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Rose Hill Sanctuary with Chaplain Joseph Bottoms officiating. Pallbearers include Jaron Minor, Gavin Minor, Mason Boyles, Kendall Waggoner, Christian Patton & Tyler Wiley. Burial will follow in Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler. He was so loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
