Iva Lue Leird

Iva Lue (Butcher) Leird, 80, of Whitefield, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at her home. She was born February 6, 1940 in Osceola, Iowa to Fred & Helen (Bright) Butcher. She grew up in Iowa where she was educated. She met an Okie named James “Sonny” Leird who was working in Iowa at the time. At the age of 16, he brought her to Whitefield, Oklahoma. They were married in 1957. Iva was ambitious and owned several businesses including her Dress Shop named Iva’s Fashions, The Blooming Shed Flower Shop, Kwik Dine Drive-Inn and ending her career as the owner of Leird Insurance She was a talented athlete that played on a traveling softball team when her kids were very young. She loved camping, running around and traveling. She enjoyed going to Gospel Music Festivals. Iva attended Whitefield Baptist Church for many years. She loved God, her church, and wanted her entire family to go with her to heaven. She loved doing for others and enjoyed being involved in the community. Iva is survived by her 3 daughters & a son-in-law, Brenda & Gary Reading of Rose Hill, Sharron McGrath of Whitefield & Karran Leird of Rocky Ridge; 7 grandchildren & their spouses, Tony & Robyn Roberts, Brian & Christy Reading, Hollie & Matt Webster, Amanda & Brian Ford, Dixie Cowett, Shanaeha Cowett, Melody Leird; 15 great grandchildren, Ally, Mattison, Brooklyn, Averie, Brinlee, Christopher, Brett, Sydni, Delany, Remington, Kinley, Klayre, Kallie, DeWayne, Makenna; numerous nieces & nephews; 2 sisters, Eva Funkhouser of Sydney, Nebraska & Mary Anderson & husband C.J. of Ashland, Nebraska. Iva is preceded in death by her parents, Fred & Helen Butcher; her husband, James “Sonny” Leird ; a grandson , Jamie Leird; 2 sisters, Marie Sibard & Sally Brobst; 5 brothers, Bobby, Donald, Darrell, Jackie & Logan Butcher. Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Whitefield Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Bob Kirk officiating. Pallbearers include Billy Cleveland, Bob Self, Gary Reading, Tony Roberts, Dee Leird, Rick Bumpers, Brandon Cantrell. Honorary Pallbearer include Kenneth Stiles, Cole Bryce, Greg Bryce. Burial will follow in Whitefield Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler. *Mask are Required*
