Georgia Elizabeth Norried

Our mama and granny went to be with her Lord on Christmas day, December 25, 2024. Georgia Elizabeth Norried was born to Irven Reid and Ethel Gifford Reid on May 1, 1934, in Stigler, Oklahoma. From her first marriage to Chester Haney, she had two children, Eddie and LaDonna. She was later married to Milo Johnson for forty-three years, and they had a daughter, Jo Ella. After the death of Milo, she was married to Robert Norried for fourteen years. As a child Georgia developed the love of farming while working with her father. As an adult, she continued to farm and made her family living growing fruits and vegetables. Her produce fed not only people in our local community but also people across the country. She and Milo were avid trappers and fishermen. During the off-season, she worked as a nurse aid at the Stigler Nursing Home. Georgia also spent a lot of time making beautiful quilts. Her grandchildren have fond memories of making apple cider and cane-pole fishing with their granny. Her dedicated work ethic was an inspiration to her family and the community. She treasured being called Granny by her family and others. Georgia is survived by her children Eddie and Margie Haney of Stigler, LaDonna Hatfield of Sallisaw, and Jo Ella and Kenneth Davis of Stigler; grandchildren Shane and Jennifer Haney, Keith and Ramey Holsten, Camy and Mike Livermore, Chris and Crystal Haney, Brandon Davis, Amanda and Scott Welch, and Kendra and David Abel; bonus grandchildren Shane and Lorie Davis, Phillip and Michelle Davis, and Natalie Davis; her sister Jean and Bob Self; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents Irven and Ethel Reid; her husbands Milo Johnson and Robert Norried; brother Felix Reid and sisters Marie Dilday, Beulah (Boots) Ross, Mary Lou Williams; granddaughter Trisha Holsten; grandson Martin Davis; and her child Baby Boy Haney. Jo Ella and Amanda would like to thank the staff at the Haskell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the special care given to Granny.
