Benny Leo Peevy

Mr. Benny L. Peevy, 89, of Quinton passed away June 22, 2014 at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa. He was born on July 31, 1924 to Renzo Peevy and Cora (Strain) Peevy. He grew up at Featherston and Blocker and worked for Hughes Ranch. He then joined the U.S. Army during World War II, and married Martha Trixie McMorris in Quinton on May 13, 1944 and they made their home together in Featherston. They then relocated to Lamont, California for ten years before moving back to Quinton in 1959. He worked many years as a truck driver, and also worked many years for the city of Quinton. He will always be remembered as loving his family, as well as loving to go coon hunting, and fishing with his grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Martha Trixie Peevy of the home; three daughters, Mary Stephens and husband Leon of Quinton, Mavis Risenhoover and husband Jackie of Quinton, Melvena Spears and husband Chris of Russellville; seven sons, Benny Joe Dean Peevy and wife Jimmie of Temple, Texas, Clomer Gene Peevy and wife Dawn of McAlester, Ronnie Peevy of Temple, Texas, Ricky Peevy and wife Diana of Temple, Billy Peevy and wife Paula of Quinton, Yancey Peevy and wife Terrie of Quinton, Troy Peevy and wife Valerie of Las Vegas; three sisters, Ivy, Gloria. Myrtle all of California; three brothers, Kenneth Peevy and wife Lola of Featherston, Randy Peevy of California, Wayne Peevy of California; thirty four grandchildren; as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Renzo and Cora Peevy; three sisters; one brother; three grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel. Bro. Fred Beasley will be officiating. eulogist: Hailey Spears. Pallbearers include Leon Stephens, Gene Peevy, Ronnie Peevy, Yancey Peevy, Ricky Peevy, Timothy Stephens. Honorary Pallbearers include Joe Peevy, Troy Peevy, Bill Peevy, Chris Spears, Kenton Spears, Jake Spears, Jackie Risenhoover. Burial will immediately follow at Featherston Cemetery under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
