Jerry Guy Poteet, 71 of Kinta, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home. He was born September 4, 1945 in Big Spring, Texas to Ted and Gloria (VanCleve) Poteet. Jerry grew up at El Paso, Texas where he was educated. He served his country in the United States Navy. Jerry moved to Kinta, Oklahoma in the early 1970’s and became owner and operator of Poteet Service Station for many years. Then he became a part of Duel Drilling and Shell Oil Co. and later Bear Production until his retirement. He loved his motorcycle and taking care of his land. Jerry is survived by his wife, Renee of the home; his three sons, Mike Hunt and wife Amanda of Kinta, Jerry Guy Poteet Jr. of Stigler, Stephen Balding and Stephanie Norris; eleven grandchildren, Bryan, Cody, Amber, Jerrad, Harley, Jaylynn, John, Jason, Ezra, Elijah, Milo; five great grandchildren, Token, Jackson, Jameson, Angel, Little John; two brothers, Joe Poteet and wife Joy of Lakeland, Florida, Lewis Teal and wife Rita of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Vel Garrison and husband Jack of Plant City, Florida; mother of his two sons, Sandy Poteet of Stigler; best friend, Charlie Peters. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Gloria Poteet. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Stigler with Reverend Tommie Parker officiating. Pallbearers include Larry Mills, John Foreman, Robert Long, Harley Wakaty, Allen Loveall, Donnie Ary. Honorary Pallbearers include Boyd King, Wesley Harp, Jim Stevens, Carl Ford, Mike Ford. Burial will follow immediately to Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
