Mr. James W. Evett, 73, of Oklahoma City, died March 17, 2012. A native of Kinta he was born December 23, 1938 to James and Maud (Norvell) Evett. He was educated at Kinta until sixth grade and moved with his family to California. He graduated from Alvin High School. He served his country with the United States Army. He was married to Ruby Walker and made their home together. He began a career as a welder in the oilfield industry for many years. He made his home in Oklahoma City in 1980. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, as well as working on old cars. He is survived one sister, Sue Hughes of Newport Beach, CA; two aunts, Myrtle Whitehead of Kinta, Eula Mae Wehunt of Dumas, TX; one nephew, Sean Kesterson of Lake Elsanor, CA; as well as numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Maud Evett; his wife, Ruby Evett; one sister, Mildred Irene Evett. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 26, 2012 at the R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jeff Bengs officiating. Burial will follow at Quinton Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home officiating.
