Harvey E. Shipman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

SFC E7 Harvey E. (Gene) Shipman, 82 of Porum passed away Friday, January 29, 2016 in Muskogee. He was born on March 6, 1933 in Olathe, Kansas to Charles and Norma (Devine) Shipman. He served in the Marine Corps from December 6, 1951 – February 14, 1961 and he served in the Army from March 14, 1961 – January 31, 1973. While in the military he acquired many honors including Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal 3d Award, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and 5 Over-sea Bars, Expert Sharpshooter (Rifle M14), Korean Service Medal w/1Star, United Nations Service Medal; Korean PUC, Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Star, Silver Service Star, 5 Bronze Service Star, VN Cross of Ballantry, Combat Infantryman Badge, . Harvey is survived by his neice, Deanna Coslow of Porum; his great neice, Alexis Coslow of Porum; his great nephew, Jonathan Demackiewicz of Porum; his nephew, John Demackiewicz of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Michelle Espy of Wyoming, Dawn and Harvey Boxberger of Wyoming; five grandchildren, Cortney Shipman of Wyoming, Corey Espy of Wyoming, Justin Harter of Kansas, Taylor Paulson of South Dakota, Jorden Paulson of South Dakota; two great grandchildren, Keilan Garner of Wyoming, Liam Espy of Wyoming; best friends, Jim and Gloria Overbey of Porum, Bob and Trish Runkle of Missouri; many more family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Norma Shipman; ten brothers and sisters. Services will be held at Overbey Country Kitchen at 3:00 P.M. March 6, 2016. Direct Cremation will be under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
