George T. “Buckwheat” Jordan, 81, of Stigler, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Ft. Smith. He was born August 1, 1938 in Keota to Albert Ray & Vesta (Few) Jordan. George grew up in Rock Ford where he was educated. He lived in Haskell County all his life. He worked on the State Dam Projects and worked most of his life as a Coal Miner for Ferrell-Cooper Mining. He loved gardening and tinkering with lawnmowers. George is survived by his 3 sons & daughters-in-law, Keith & Judy Jordan of McAlester, Greg & Trish Jordan of Greenwood, Arkansas, Tyson & Dalia Jordan of Hackett, Arkansas; his daughter & son-in-law Angela & Richard Jasna of Konawa; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; his brother, Ray Jordan; mother of his children, June McFerran of Greenwood, Arkansas; close friends, Carl Pitchford of Red Oak, Sam Stubblefield, Jeff Johnson. George is preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Vesta Jordan; a grandson, Brent Jordan; 3 sisters, Anna, Evelyn, Wanda; a brother, Eugene Jordan. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with Mr. Paul Orr officiating. Cremation Arrangement are under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler. Burial will follow in Keota Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
