Eugene Cagle

Mr. Eugene Cagle, 80 of Stigler passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Talihina Veterans Hospital. He was born on February 20, 1934 in Eufaula to Chester Cagle and Eunice (Ritter) Cagle. He grew up in Checotah where he received his education. After graduation he served his country with the U.S. Army from 1953-1956 in Germany. He married Elizabeth Welch in Eufaula on October 11, 1956 and made their home together in Muskogee for 15 years. He began a career with O.N.G. and transferred to Stigler in 1975, before retiring in 1992. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and gardening (especially roses and strawberries). He was a faithful longtime member of Stigler First Assembly of God Church, and he loved his church and his church family. He also attended Church in Talihina with Reverend Cliff Gravitt. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cagle of the home; one daughter, Beverly Vaughn and husband Chris of Tulsa; one grandson, Christopher Vaughn of Stigler; two sisters, Beatrice Breakey of Michigan, Hazel Martin of Checotah; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Eunice Cagle; one brother, Euel Dean Cagle. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 20, 2014 at Stigler First Assembly of God Church with Reverend Cliff Gravitt and Reverend Sherman Dix officiating. Pallbearers include David Bond, Chris Vaughn, Christopher Vaughn, Roger Edwards, and Bobby Bond. Services will be under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
