Edmond Eaton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Edmond Eaton, 89, longtime Lequire native died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Stigler. He was born December 21, 1922 to Sam and Ruby (Walls) Eaton in Lequire. He received his education at Lequire School. He began a lifelong career as a Miner at the McCurtain Coal Mine until the mid 1950’s. Edmond served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married to Clara McMahan in June of 1947 and made their home together. They moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico where he worked for Southwestern Potash Mines until his retirement. He and Clara returned home to Lequire in the mid 1980’s. He enjoyed gardening, his cats, and loved watching basketball games in his spare time. He is survived by four sons, Larry Eaton and wife Cindi of Hot Springs, AR, Denny Eaton and wife Mayme of Montague, TX, Terry Eaton and wife Linda of Granbury, TX, Benny Eaton and wife Bobbie of Carlsbad, N.M.; one half sister, Charlene Vap of Ponca City, OK; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ruby Eaton; his wife, Clara Eaton; one sister, Joy Marie Fair; one half brother, Charles Gooberson. Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Scott Eaton officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Eaton, Jon Rogers, Wesley Eaton, James Eaton, Dustin Bishop, and Ron Lockwood. Honorary pallbearers include Johnny McMahan, Howard Eaton, and Kenneth Ray Stiles. Burial will follow at Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
