Don W. Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Don W. Smith, 80 of Enterprise passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born on July 22, 1934 in Enterprise to James Smith and Lila (Barbee) Smith. He grew up in Enterprise where he received his education. He began working on the family farm before moving to California where he met his wife. He married Mabel Curtis on December 29, 1953 in Modesto, California and they made their home in Ventura, California. He began working for Ford Motor Company before moving back to Enterprise in 1956. After returning to Oklahoma he began working on the Eufaula Dam project as a welder. He also operated Interstate Truck and Wrecker Service for many years in Checotah. He worked in Saudia Arabia building Oil Derricks for a year and a half and he was a truck driver for several years. He is survived by his wife, Mabel Smith of the home; two daughters, Sharrie Penn and husband John of Kinta, Carol Brinsfield and husband Ronnie of Checotah; one son, D.J. Smith and wife Deanna of Enterprise; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Smith of Enterprise; one aunt, Ruth Moore of Whitefield. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lila Smith; one granddaughter, April Brinsfield. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with Reverend George Mantooth officiating and Eulogist: Mr. Bob Few. Pallbearers include, Aaron Brinsfield, Sara Brinsfield, Chase Smith, Richard Lane, Dylan Lane, and Steven Lane. Honorary Pallbearers include Brianna Lane, Cody Lane, and Hunter Lane. Burial will immediately follow at Brooken Cemetery under the direction of King and Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
