Lila E. Hardy

Obituary for Lila Walters Hardy; Lila Walters Hardy was born to Jacob and Emma Harris Walters on March 11, 1920 in Lewisville, OK. She went to meet her Savior on January 4, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK. She married Weige Bowers and to this union four children were born. Then later she married William Hardy. Lila accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Harris Chapel Baptist Church her entire life. She held the position of Secretary/Clerk for many years. She also was a member of the Collate District Association where she held the position of Secretary under the leadership of Dr. J.A. Reed. She was a faithful and devoted servant until her health began to fail. Some of her favorite sayins were: “COME ON PREACHER, PREACH and COME ON CHOIR SANG” Lila started her education in a one room school in Lewisville, OK. She later attended Boley School. She completed her educational training at Connors College in Warner, OK. She was employed at the Navy Base in McAlester, OK, various housekeeping positions and was a Center Director/Teacher for the KI Bois Head Start in Kinta, OK for 25 years. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Alice Walker of Kinta, OK., two sons; Maurice (Bertha) Bowers of McAlester, OK and John (Jacci) Bowers of Oklahoma City, OK.; one step-son, Larry Thomas of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters; five brothers; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; twenty-eight great-great grandchildren; a great-great-great grandson; a special cousin, Booker Alford; a close friend she called Sista Pearl Lovelace and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, a son; a great-great granddaughter. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., January 9, 2016 at the Kinta High School Gymnasium with Reverend John Tottress officiating. Pallbearers include Nathan Brown, Maurice Maxwell, Furnando Powell, Clint Walker, John Walker, Arnold Walters. Honorary Pallbearers include Ralph Carpenter, Willaim Powell, Orval Wheat, Danny Bowen, Robert Shook. Burial will immediately follow to Lewisville Cemetery, Lewisville, OK. under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
