JUNITA H CANTRELL

Junita Hurst Cantrell was born June 17, 1934 to Conard and Ida Mae Carr Hurst. She was the youngest of 8 siblings. Junita grew up in the Lafayette community. She attended school there until the 8th grade when she had to stay home and take care of her mother who passed away when Junita was 16. At the age of 18 she married the love of her life, Ralph Cantrell, on September 1, 1952 at the Stigler Courthouse. They shared 53 wonderful years of marriage together. They had 2 children 1 ½ years apart (Cleon and Regina). They waited 10 years and then had Phil. Another 6 years went by, and they were surprised with another daughter, Ladonna. Junita was a very hard worker always helping wherever she saw the need. You could often find her driving a Bob truck or tractor, helping with the clothing room at the church, or cooking for someone in need. She was always ready and willing to serve others. In her limited downtime she loved gardening, arts and crafts, quilting, and helping with the grandbabies and great grandbabies. Junita was preceded in death by her Husband Ralph Cantrell; 4 Brothers, Buck, Jack, Claude, Windy; 3 Sisters, Jessie Honeycutt, Burt Goodson, Loetta Forrester; 1 grandson Christopher Cantrell; and a special nephew David Hurst. Junita was survived by 2 sons, Cleon Cantrell and wife Dorothy of Stigler, Phil Cantrell and wife Donna of Fishcreek; 2 daughters, Regina Barnes and husband Doyle of Stigler, LaDonna Howell of Texas. Grandchildren, Heather Flippin and husband Eric of Porum; Jeremy Cantrell of Perry, Haden Cantrell and wife Sara of Stigler, Jesse Barnes of Stigler, Rochelle Owen of Stigler, Jake Cantrell and wife Jonessa of Fishcreek, Alea Henderson and husband Collin of Fishcreek, Andrew Howell and Amanda Howell of Texas; 18 Great Grandchildren; her special friends Dolly Beal and Pat Fenton, and the ladies of the Stigler Church of Christ. Junita was a lifelong member of the Stigler Church of Christ. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 14th, 2025 at the Stigler Church of Christ. Minister, Mr. Virgil Cantrell and Eulogist Collin Henderson. Pallbearers; Grandsons; Jake Cantrell, Collin Henderson, Jesse Barnes, J.D. Barnes, Hayden Cantrell, Jeremy Cantrell, Kaili Barnes. Honorary Pallbearers; Conard Hurst, Gary Honeycutt, Kevin Kelly, and Mark Fenton. Burial will follow at Sans Bois Cemetery under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
