Jennie Willmon Wilson

Jennie Willmon Wilson was born January 31, 1922, in McCurtain, Oklahoma, to William Jefferson Willmon and Lillie Elizabeth Gill Willmon. She departed this life on September 5, 2026, at the age of 104 years, eight months, and five days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Andrew Wilson; her parents, William Jefferson Willmon and Lillie Elizabeth Gill Willmon; her brothers, Benjamin Burnett Willmon and Jeff Dolan Willmon; and her sister, Euna Lee Willmon Norris. She is survived by her son, Cecil Gary Wilson and wife Rita Jane; Grandchildren, Tammy Wilson Crockett and husband Randy, and Dow Barkley Wilson and wife Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Tannah Elizabeth Wilson Robinson and husband Bryan, Chloe Janae Wilson Nicholson and husband Jesse, Cade Garron Wilson, and Michelle Lynn Mathes; Great-great-grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Mathes and Allisa Jean Mathes; Great-great-great-grandchildren, Ares Jason Mathes, and soon-to-arrive Jennie Elizabeth Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. Jennie was born and raised in McCurtain, where she met her husband, C. A. They were married in 1938. Together, they owned and operated Wilson’s Grocery Store in McCurtain, Oklahoma, from 1947 until 1976. Jennie was a lifelong member of McCurtain Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught many young children in Sunday School. She taught herself to play piano on an old pump organ and loved to play and sing her favorite hymns. At the age of 70, Jennie and Lena Mae Barkley earned their GEDs together in Poteau, Oklahoma, an accomplishment Jennie was incredibly proud of! She loved to sew, crochet, and quilt. Over the years, she lovingly made countless quilts for newborn babies, church fundraisers, family, and friends, leaving behind treasured pieces that will continue to be cherished. Each one was truly a labor of love and a reflection of her giving heart. Throughout her life, Jennie’s deep love for the Lord and her relationship with Him were evident in the way she lived, leaving a legacy of faith that will live on in the lives of those she loved. Funeral Service will be held at McCurtain Free Will Baptist Church, Wednesday, September 9th at 2:00 P.M. Interment following at Miners Cemetery. Officiating the service Mr. Dow Wilson. Pallbearers: Randy Crockett, Cade Wilson, Mark Blan, Bryan Robinson, Jesse Nicholson, Roy Johnson, and Douglas Blaylock .
