Eddie Ray Garner

Eddie Ray Garner, 58, of Stigler, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Haskell County Hospital. He was born February 26, 1958 in Agana Heights, Guam to Gary and Leona (Lavoie) Garner. He grew up in El Reno where he was educated. Eddie was an outdoor enthusiast. He loved spending time with his family; hiking, riding ATV’s, participating in Trials Events and competing in mud runs and Half Marathons with his kids. He spent countless hours working on Alissa’s gym with Jimmy doing everything he could to help get it up and running. He loved teaching Kyle and Caleb about motorcycles and trail bikes as they spent most weekends getting ready for the next race. He loved spending time camping and riding in Colorado with his family. He and Joanne even took a hot air balloon on their last Colorado trip. Eddie had gotten dirty with his kids at mud runs and completed 2 half marathons and was training for a third. He loved onion burgers from his favorite restaurant in his home town of El Reno. He would bring back a dozen and stink everyone out of the vehicle. Reading was his passion. If you caught him sitting still he usually had a book in his hand. He always loved harassing us with the world’s smallest violin. When we would complain about something he’d hold up his fingers and play for us. He loved spending time with Joanne. They would take off on weekend adventures to see movies or attend cultural events. He was a great husband who was always taking care of his wife. Eddie is survived by his wife, Joanne Garner of the home; his three children, Alissa Brigance and husband Jimmy of Stigler, Kyle Mitchell and wife Whitney of Harrah, Caleb Mitchell of Stigler; his brother, Steve Garner and wife Becky of Bethany; his brother-in-law, Dennis Savill of Oklahoma City; his niece Olivia Savill of Oklahoma City. Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Leona Garner; his sister, MaKayla Savill. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at R.E. Shearwood Memorial Chapel with speakers, Mr. Kevin Gray, Mr. Steve Garner officiating. Eulogy: Alissa Brigance. Honorary Pallbearers include Orville Hayes, Jack Bates, Mike Cullen, Cody Ramsey, Phil Awbrey. Services are under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
